How To Measure Bolt Pattern Size

A 4 lug bolt pattern means that the wheel has 4 lug hole spaced evenly on a circle. Bolt pattern or bolt circle is the diameter of an imaginary circle formed by the centers of the wheel lugs.

Remember, the diameter of circle may vary.

How to measure bolt pattern size. Bolt measurements can be calculated in millimeters or inches, but bolt measurements specified in inches are international. Common bolt patterns have 4, 5, 6, or 8 lug holes, while less common have 3, 7, or 10 lug bolt patterns. The closest you can get is to measure from the center of one lug to the outer edge of the lug farthest away.

You measure from the back of one lug (skip to next lug as shown) and to the center of that lug. Select 2 bolts that have a 1 bolt spacing on either side. This is how to measure your tire bolt pattern based on your specific lug count.

For vehicles that use 4, 6, or 8 lugs, the simplest way to find its inner diameter is to measure the distance between holes directly across from one another. Then, choose 1 of the 2 bolts on the opposite side. To find your bolt pattern, measure the distance as accurately as possible and then find the corresponding bolt pattern in the conversion table below.

If you need the 4, 6 or 9 lug page look here how to measure 4, 6 or 8 lug wheel bolt pattern if you want a more accurate approach check out the wheel bolt circle calculators A bolt circle of 5x114.3 mm would indicate a 5 lug pattern on a circle with a diameter of 114.3mm (or 4.5). How to measure wheel back spacing this measurement is important to be sure you have proper wheel clearance.

Next, you'll measure how many inches apart the bolt holes are. To get a 4, 6 or 8 lug bolt pattern use a device to measure from the center of one lug to the center of the lug directly accross from it. Interchangeable wheel / bolt pattern chart for cars, trucks, vans, suvs, motorhomes, rvs, atvs, utvs and trailers

No need to guess any longer! The bolt pattern spacing can also be measured with a regular tape measure. Figuring out the size of a bolt seems like a simple enough task until you try to match your bolt with a sea of options at the hardware store.

Measure from the middle of one stud to the outside of the second stud (skipping a stud). That should get you your bolt pattern measurement. That measurement is your bolt pattern diameter.

Other common bolt patterns are 5×4.75 and 5×5. If you have 5 or 7 studs, you will have to take an extra step to determine the bolt pattern. If your wheel has 5 bolts, or another odd number of bolts, measure from the very top of 1 lug nut to the center of the bolt that is directly across from it in order to find the diameter.

The bolt pattern is 5 x 5: Measure from the center of one bolt hole (or stud if it is still one the bike) across the axle hole to the center of the bolt hole on the other side. The number you see will be the actual measurement of the bolt pattern.

Measure using the metric side of the ruler, in millimeters. You need a scale or gauge. You have 4 lug (bolt) rims on your machine, but i will show 3 and 5 bolt rims also.

For many car makes and models on the market today. So if you see 4 1/2 inches, you have a 5 on 4 1/2 ( also 5×4.5 and 5×114.3) bolt pattern. Pull your measuring tape to the outside edge to measure the bolt pattern.

To get 5 and 7 lug bolt patterns it's not so simple. A wheel with 5 lugs won’t have a symmetrical set of bolts. In order to get accurate measurements, you’ll need a bolt gauge, which you can purchase from your local hardware or auto parts store.

Now, start at the outer wall of the bolt hole and measure all the way to the center of the other bolt hole. Speedway motors has a precision bolt circle template that simplifies the most common 5 lug patterns for you. Bolt patterns with an even number of lugs are measured from bolt center to bolt center while 5 lug bolt patterns are measured from the top of the upper lug to the center of the lower lug.

If there are 4,6 or 8 studs, simply measure the center to center distance between two studs that are across the hub from each other. Wheel bolt pattern is the measured diameter of an imaginary circle formed by the centers of the wheel studs or bolt holes. These two steps together will give you your bolt hole pattern.

Typically this will be 4, 5, 6, or 8. 5x114.3 mm is also referred to as 5x4.5). To measure an 8 lug bolt pattern, measure center to center of two holes directly across from each other.

Bolt circles are measured in both inches and millimeters, therefore you may hear a bolt pattern referred to as both (i.e. A common measurement for a 5 bolt pattern is 120 millimetres (4.7 in) from the top of 1 lug to the center of another. Just a heads up, you’ll need a calculator for this.

Measure from the center of one lug holes to the.
