How to Make a Pillow Cover with Invisible Zipper Pillow

How to sew a pillowcase with zipper. No need to fear, because a silk or satin pillowcase might just save the day. Roll up the edges of your pillow so it's easier to sew it. Using a silk or satin pillowcase can be an extremely good way to prevent hair breakage, and also prevent wrinkles on your face as well.

Make sure you sew through the zipper ends as well. Pin the left side of the zipper in place. Fold the fabric once (like in photo 1 top) 2.

Pin the zipper before sewing it. Make sure the zipper coil faces towards the inside of the pillow and the edge of the zipper tape is flush with the raw edge of the pillow cover. We’ll get the zipper pull section of the zipper in a later step.

Open the zipper a little (2 inches or so). Continue sewing until the marked dot again for both sides of the zipper. The picture below can be a little tricky to sort out visually.

If you have a hard time double folding and pinning the textile to the zipper try it this way: Backstitch and sew the length of the zipper stopping at your 2″ marking. Be careful not to sew over any pins or you may damage your sewing machine.

Open the zipper a bit and sew the other side. To sew in a zipper, start by machine basting the zipper opening closed, keeping your seam allowances the same as the rest of the project. You can finish the edge with zig zag stitch for a neat look inside.

Turn your pillowcase right side out through the opened zipper. Using a seam ripper or small sharp scissors, very carefully take the seam out that’s directly on top of the zipper. Step 8 | sew other side of the zipper.

Now that your zipper is installed… step three: Cap it off by sewing over the ends of the zipper and the edges of the fabric. Sew along the edge, leaving about 1/2″ seam allowance.

For sewing on the zipper, use zipper foot # 4.!!! Make sure the invisible zipper side is facing down the stitches. Leave the zipper totally shut.

Pin around the remaining three sides, as well as the corners of the zipper edge. The pillow is finished with an envelope style closure. Then lower the foot again and sew to the end of the zipper. Keep the stitches about 0.25 in (0.64 cm) or less from the zipper. Now you’re ready to sew the zipper.
